Memorial Day is many things to many people. It marks the beginning of Lake Season at Lake Of The Ozarks, and the beginning of summer for most students, but the meaning behind it can often get forgotten.
It’s true meaning is to honor the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. It’s a time to reflect on the sacrifice they have made that allows us to enjoy the freedoms we have in the USA.
In Kansas City we have a special reminder of the incredible valor of the men and women who gave their lives in service during World War I, Liberty Memorial. In fact this past year in November 2018 leading up to the commencement of the 100 year celebration of WWI the monument was lit up with poppies projected onto it. It was pretty powerful and moving. I’ll include some pictures I took of it below
And every year there is a celebration at Union Station and Liberty Memorial for Memorial Day that ends with an awesome fireworks display. And I feel super blessed to live in a city whose fireworks display is set off at a monument reminding us; Home Of The Free, Because Of The Brave.
And from my family to yours I hope you have a Happy Memorial Day, and enjoy quality time with one another!
