Welcome to my blog, a space for you to get to know me better. Both as a photographer and as just another person on this journey we call life. Because its about the journey, not the destination, after all. But I didn’t always see it that way unfortunately. And it is because of that reason that it took me so long to finally do the thing that makes my soul sing, Photography. And forgive me for sounding like the cheasiest of all cliches, but what the world needs is more people to do what makes their soul sing. So I am all about sharing vulnerably, my hope is that by sharing my truth that my experiences might be able to help other's. I believe it is in being of service to others that I receive true inner peace. My journey to inner peace and true contentment has been a long one, with some bumps along the way that I will share with you in some of my blog posts. So if that sounds like something you’d like to see more of stay tuned, and feel free to comment and let me know if you are interested in me sharing more in that particular way.
If your wondering why I gave you that bit of information right out of the gate, I promise this is all going somewhere. You see I am finally living my true dream by doing the thing that makes me deliriously happy, taking pictures. When I take pictures I lose track of time and nothing else matters in that moment, I am just completely present. It’s just me and whatever I’m shooting, and nothing else matters. Which means my subject receives the kind of focused attention that leads to those split second “wow” moments that can’t be duplicated, because they come from genuine glimpses into my subjects truest self. And in this digital era being completely present is no easy task.
My love for Photography happened the second I picked up my very first disposable camera, many moons ago. I have always had a strong desire to capture memories and moments. When I was very young I started taking pictures of anything snd everything, it was just an inate sense I had.
When I was in high school I joined the newspaper and yearbook so I could spend even more time taking pictures. It was then that I realized I had a natural talent for it. During high school I got my first fancy camera. It was a film camera, as I am on the cusp of the generations right before technology became the center of everything. Which means society thinks I should be able use any computer program like a pro, yet as a senior in highschool we were barely taught spread sheets. The Photography I was taught in both my newspaper and yearbook class centered around using a dark room to develop the pictures in baths of processing liquids. And to me it was like magic, watching in the pitch blackness of the darkroom as the picture slowly came to life before my eyes. Back when cameras weren’t digital and you didn’t know if you got that perfect shot until you developed the negatives and started staring at them through a mini magnifying glass.
My dream of being a photographer took a turn when everything went digital a couple years later and I struggled to learn the computer end of it. Photoshop was like the boogeyman, hiding under my bed, leaving me too scared to go after my dream. I just couldn’t get the hang of it, and the frustration it caused forced me to decide to follow other career paths.
The problem with that was that those careers never made me happy or fulfilled me. So a year ago I finally faced my biggest fear, going back to school, and took a class to learn the Photoshop skills I needed to make my dream a reality. And I’m excited to tell you that not only do I have a keen eye and natural ability to make great photos, I now pocess the computer skills needed to give my customers the exceptional finished product they deserve. Because I believe in giving over the top customer service and offering the highest quality product. And until I could offer my customers the kind of photos I myself would want of my own family, I would never start my own photography business. I grew up with a father that owns a local home improvement company that offers high quality products they can stand behind, and gives customers exceptional customer service from start to finish, so I’ve always belived to my core that’s the only way things should be done. So I have worked hard to be able to say to you that I promise to give you the kind of service and pictures you deserve, the kind of pictures that will make you smile from ear to ear every time you look at them. And I won’t be satisfied with anything less, and neither should you. My goal is to not only capture the essence of you and your family, but to make taking pictures something you look forward to.
Let me illustrate for you some of perks of the editing process. While I believe in keeping you looking like yourself and not overediting my photos, you can rest easy knowing that one little pimple won’t ruin a perfectly planned family photo session, or your wedding day as I can edit out any unwanted imperfections. Having a rough day trying to get the kiddos ready for family portraits and you just can’t get all those little flyaways tamed, no worries I can edit those pesky suckers out of the photo. Spill coffee on yourself on the way to the studio for your portrait session, have no fear I can edit that out.
So now that you know a little bit about me, I hope to get to know you, and become part of the family as we capture what matters most, and make beautiful memories together that will light you up with joy for years to come!
